The
Brett Favre Story
Brett Lorenzo Favre was born on October 10th, 1969 in Gulfport,
Mississippi. He spent his youth in the small town of Kiln,
Mississippi (pronounced "Kill"), where he acquired
the nickname "Country." As an athlete, Brett
accomplished many goals early, such as earning five letters
in baseball and three in football at Hancock North Central
High School. His high school football jersey #10 was retired
in 1993, along with the jersey he wore throughout his career
as a quarterback for Southern Mississippi (#4). In college,
Brett led his team to 29 victories in four seasons. At
the end of his senior year, he was named MVP of the annual
East-West Shrine Game, as well as the All American Bowl.
In 1991, Brett was drafted in the second round by the Atlanta
Falcons and played only two regular season games for the
team. In 1992, the Green Bay Packers acquired Brett in
exchange for a first-round draft choice. Taking over for
an injured Don Majkowski during the third game of the season,
Brett led the Packers to a thrilling come-from-behind victory
over the Cincinnati Bengals. After leading the Packers
to triumph in Super Bowl XXXI, Brett returned to the "Title" to
"Title Town" for the first time since Super Bowl
II, twenty-nine years earlier. He is now considered among
the elite of NFL quarterbacks and has been names MVP three
seasons in a row.
"Country" lends his unique blend of attitude, excellence
and performance to every facet of Brett Favre's Steakhouse.
